Tunisian-Algerian meetings in automotive components and parts sector

A delegation of Tunisian businessmen in automotive components and parts sector were in Algiers February 26-March 1, the Exports Promotion Centre (CEPEX) said in a press release Thursday.

Led by CEPEX through its office in Algeria, the Tunisian delegation, made up of thirteen enterprises of various specialties, (filters, shock absorbers, wiring, seals, brake linings, signal lights, lubricants, technical plastics, paint booths, etc.), had B2B meetings, made a visit to the “Equip Auto Algeria” trade fair and held a working session with the SNVI Group, the Mécanique Group “AGM”and the Renault Algérie Production Group.

The B2B meetings helped the Tunisian delegation to get in touch with more than 80 Algerian companies specializing in import and distribution of automotive parts and a large number of private operators interested in industrial partnership.

These meetings augur well, according to the visit’s organizers, both in terms of export and industrial partnership. Specific measures were taken in Algeria to encourage investment in the automotive subcontracting sector, they said.

During the meeting with SNVI group, four partnership projects were identified and can be engaged in a short period in Algeria with Tunisian companies whose production will be directed towards the needs of the Renault group in the first place.

It was also agreed to keep contacts between the various stakeholders in the two countries to build a strategic partnership based on complementarity and mutual interest.

Algeria’s imports of automotive components in 2016 totaled nearly USD 450 million and the current size of the Algerian automobile market is estimated at 350,000 cars per year.
