Saudi Arabia reaffirms support for Tunisian initiative to resolve crisis in Libya

Crown Prince Muhammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia commended on Wednesday the Tunisian initiative to resolve the crisis in Libya in a peaceful manner, reaffirming the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to this initiative serving the general interest of Libya and its neighbouring countries.

Received at the Carthage Palace by President Béji Caïd Essebsi, Prince Muhammed Bin Nayef Bin Abdulaziz stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands with Tunisia in its fight against terrorism, reiterating his country’s readiness to step up cooperation in this field.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, the Crown Prince praised the important steps taken by Tunisia towards achieving stability and preserving security.

The Prince conveyed to the President of the Republic the greetings of his brother King Salmane Bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, commending the new dynamics that characterise relations between the two countries under the wise leadership of the two countries’ the leaders.

For his part, Caïd Essebsi commended the level of cooperation between the two countries in all fields, praising the Kingdom’s distinguished participation in the Tunisia 2020 International Investment Conference held in Tunis in November 2016.

“The important support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the implementation of development projects in Tunisia is no longer to be demonstrated,” he went on saying.

Prince Muhammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is leading a delegation from his country to the 34th session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council held in Tunis on April 5 – 6.
