Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy Khaled Kaddour said, Friday, during his visit to the governorate of Tozeur, with a ministerial delegation chaired by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, the incapacity of the Gafsa Phosphates Company (CPG) and the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT) to take on new recruitments, after those created in recent years, TAP reports.
He stressed the need to reactivate environmental companies to play a positive economic role.
Commenting on the situation of the CPG, after the cessation of production and its decline of more than 50% over the past 7 years, the Minister said that it was no longer allowed to impede production regardless of the justifications, according to TAP.
Regarding the phosphate mine of Djerid that will operate the CPG as a reserve, he said that economic and environmental feasibility studies are underway, with a view to adopting technologies that preserve the environment at the start of the operation of the mine.
He also indicated that the objective is to make the governorate of Tozeur a pole of the green economy by implementing projects of 100 megawatts by solar energy to ensure the energy self-sufficiency of the region, TAP added.
