The revenue of date exports for 2017/2018 stands at 331.807 million dinars (MD) thus reaching record up 22% compared to last season (271.727MD).
The dates exported jumped by 6% since early this season (October 1, 2017) reaching 54,519 thousand tonnes February 21, 2018, against 51,391 thousand tonnes, the Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Ministry said.
In the same period, organic dates export reached 6,876 tonnes against 5,263 tonnes in the same period of last season, a leap of 30.6%.
This record increase is due to the rise in the quantities of exported organic dates and dates exports to Indonesia, Spain, the United States of America and India.
The Moroccan market tops Tunisia date exports destination with 11,931 thousand tonnes, followed by Italy with 5,477, Indonesia, Spain and France with quantities of about 4 thousand tonnes.
