Minister of Communication Technology and Digital Economy Anouar Maarouf revealed at a plenary session of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) on Monday, that the startup system, namely the fund of funds and the portal of startups, will become concrete in the first quarter of 2019.
He said that his department is striving to reach consensus for appointing a president to head the committee granting the label “startup” and guarantee the presence of the public and private sectors including 4 private experts and experts within this structure.
Maarouf reminded that Tunisia is a pioneer in adopting a legal framework that governs startups, indicating that the state is ready to back up young start-up creators.
