Tourism Ministry eyes one million French tourists in 2019

The Tunisian Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts is striving in collaboration with French and Tunisian tour operators, to energise the French market so as to bring the number of French tourists visiting the country to one million in 2019.

Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts René Trabelsi said in Paris, on the sidelines of a meeting with managers of these travel agencies and the Union of Tour Operating Companies (Seto) that the department is betting more on the French market, which has attracted nearly 737 thousand tourists until November 30, 2018, against nearly 535 thousand tourists, during the same period of last year.

According to Trabelsi, who is visiting France from December 13 to 17, the French market is not well ranked in terms of the number of tourists, despite the evolution recorded in recent years.

The French market must be the first in terms of the number of tourists and must return to the figures of 2010 with 1.400 million tourists, he noted.

Regarding the priority issues for the department, Trabelsi cited the increase in the number of tourists from traditional markets, namely Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy and Ukraine and attracting new customers outside the high season, reviving Saharan tourism and ensuring environment cleanliness.
