Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts René Trabelsi said last Friday that several hotels in Djerba island are already full according to the bookings made until next April.
He pointed out that the number of tourists, particularly European tourists, had increased significantly.
The minister, who was speaking at Mosaïque Fm on the sidelines of a visit to Houmet Essouk on the island of Djerba, said that his department was currently studying the issue of hotel units that had been closed for several years due to a lack of tourists.
He added that efforts are being made to find solutions to resolve the crisis and help closed hotels resume operations. He said that only three hotels in the region would be unable to resume their activities very soon due to insurance-related issues.
