As part of the upcoming inter-governmental Italy-Tunisia summit April 29-30, a business forum will be held in Tunis on cooperation between the two countries, ANSAmed reports. Tunisia has officially joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). “The AIIB approved the accession of Tunisia on April 22,” the Ministry of Development, Investment and International Cooperation said in a statement. The total approved membership of the AIIB has increased to 97, the statement reads. Tourism arrivals in Tunisia jump 17.4 percent

Tunisia recorded a 17.4 per cent leap in the number of tourism arrivals. 592,000 visitors arrived in Tunisia from January to March 2019, the Ministry of Tourism announced. Besides, hard currency tourism revenues registered a significant 35.1 per cent surge to stand at USD262.6 million during the first quarter of the year, the ministry revealed. Tunisia ranked first Maghreb country favourable for journalists, on Reporters Without Borders (RSF) 2019 index released Thursday. It stands at the 72nd position over 180 countries featuring into the ranking. Tunisia with this new rating leapt its ranking as it held the 97th place on the 2018 index. Tunisia reaches an agreement with IMF on fifth review of loan

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Wednesday it had reached a staff-level agreement with Tunisia on the fifth review of a loan. The agreement will allow Tunisia to benefit from a disbursement of $247 million following the Executive Board’s review that is expected to take place by early June this year. Tunisia is planning to issue sovereign bonds in bitcoin to fund infrastructural developments, reported Asia Times from IMF’s Springs Meetings summit.
