Ahmed Hafiene wins Best Actor Award in Malmo Arab Film Festival 2019

Tunisian actor Ahmed Hafiene has won, on Tuesday, the prize for best actor, at the closing ceremony of the 9th edition of the Malmo 2019 International Arab Film Festival (October 4-8, 2019).

This award is the fourth trophy that honours Ahmed Hafiene’s performance for his role in Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud’s Tunisian film “Fatwa”.

Ahmed Hafiene received the prize for best male performance at the 2018 Carthage Film Days, the 2019 Montreal Festival Vues d’Afrique and the second edition of the 2019 Tunisian Film Festival.

In the short film category, Tunisia received two awards. The prize for the best short film for “Brotherhood” by Meryem Joobeur and the prize for the best director for “Les pastèques du Cheikh” by Kaouther Ben Hania .

Tunisia was the guest of honour at the 2019 edition of the Malmo Arab Film Festival. At the opening ceremony last Friday, two trophies were awarded to Tunisia, one at the National Film and Image Centre (CNCI) and the other in tribute to the late Nejib Ayed, producer and director of the Carthage Film Days (CGC).
