Seminar on High Authority of Local Finance role in achieving decentralization objectives

A seminar to be held on October 16-17, 2019 in Tunis on the role of High Authority of Local Finance in achieving the objectives of decentralization is part of the Decentralization and Local Governance Support Programme.

The event is organized with the support of Expertise France and the French Development Agency (AFD).

The objective of this Programme is to support the Tunisian Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment, through its General Forum for the Forecasting and Support of the Decentralization Process, in the implementation of decentralization to which Tunisia has been committed since 2011.

This programme includes, in particular, a support component for the financial framework of decentralization through support for the establishment of the High Authority for Local Finance.

Minister of Local Affairs and Environment Mokhtar Hammami and Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) Gilles Chausse will open the seminar.

The seminar is a feedback of a study visit to France that took place from June 10 to 14, 2019 with the participation of members of the High Authority for Local Finance, representatives of town halls and the Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment. The general objective of this study visit was to better understand the best practices in local finance of French local authorities and public institutions, in particular, the Local Finance Committee (CFL).

The opening of the seminar on October 16 will be marked by the holding of a plenary session and the second day on October 17 will focus on the development of the High Authority for Local Finance roadmap.
