Chairmanship of La Francophonie Summit transferred to Tunisia

Armenia, which hosted the 2018 La Francophonie Summit, transferred the chairmanship of the Summit to Tunisia at the end of the meeting of member states and ministers of governments of the International Organization of La Francophonie held in Monaco on October 30-31 on the sidelines of the 36th ministerial conference of La Francophonie.

The meeting was chaired by Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and OIF Secretary-General Louise Mushikiwabo.

In addition to the reforms program proposed by the Secretary-General, the 36th ministerial conference also approved the OIF 2020 budget’s revised draft, 2019-2020 revised program, etc.

The 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie Summit was held in Yerevan, Armenia in October 2018.

Sabri Bachtobji, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in charge of the management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed Tunisia’s thanks for the confidence of the 88 Member States of the OIF in Tunisia in hosting the Summit’s work, a statement of the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.

According to a statement by the International Organisation of la Francophonie (OIF), the 18th Summit of the Francophonie will be held on December 12 and 13, 2020 in Tunis under the theme: “Connectivity in diversity: the digital vector of development and solidarity in the French-speaking world”.
