CIFF: Screen International announces tomorrow’s talents of Arab Stars

Five filmmakers and actors are selected for the third edition of the Screen International’s Initiative Arab Stars of Tomorrow at the 41st edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), Screen International announced.

This initiative, first launched in 2016,  is supported by Front Row and Kuwait National Cinema Company (KNCC).

The initiative’s objective is to support five emerging cinema talents from the Middle East and North Africa, who have started to make an impact in their field, are namely directors Wisam Al Jafari (Palestine), Raed Alsemari (Saudi Arabia) and Kawthar Younis (Egypt) and actors Fares Landoulsi (Tunisia) and Nisrin Erradi (Morocco).

It was during a panel discussion at the Festival’s industry arm ‘Cairo Industry Days’ that the announcement was made, bringing together filmmakers from inside and outside the Arab world to promote, develop, and celebrate storytelling from around the world.

The ‘Arab Stars of Tomorrow’ have been curated and selected by Screen International’s Middle East correspondent Melanie Goodfellow, with input from Editor Matt and Finn Halligan, Chief Critic and Reviews editor.
