MoU inked between Tunisia and ZIG to support water sector

In order to support the water sector in Tunisia, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked Friday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

This MoU, signed by Director General for Planning and Water Balance Hamadi Hbayeb and regional cooperation in the water sector in the Maghreb (CREM)-GIZ Programme Coordinator Manfred Matz, aims to secure the good management of water resources based on the provisions of the Water Code.

The project rests on four axes, which provide namely for enhancing the implementation of the Water Code provisions, pushing for the change of bahaviour to preserve water resources, identifying solutions for regional water management and cooperating with the private sector.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Agriculture Minister Samir Betaieb and Secretary of State for Water Resources and Fisheries Abdallah Rabhi.
