Tunisia comes fourth in Africa in e-government development index

Tunisia climbed three places to 88th out of 193 countries in the latest global ranking of the United Nations e-government development index (EGDI).

Tunisia, which gained a score of 0.6530 in this edition, against 0.6526 in the previous one, is fourth in Africa, by the development of digital administration.

The EGDI is published every two years by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA). It is based on indices of e-services, telecommunications and human capital.

Tunisia comes fourth on the African scale, ahead of Morocco (101st) with a score of 0.5915. Egypt (103rd), Ghana (106th) and Cape Verde (110th) are next. Algeria ranks 112th in the world and 9th in Africa. Kenya (113th) closes the African TOP 10.

The report highlights that only four African countries are among the top 100 countries in terms of EGDI in the last two publications of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. These are Tunisia, Mauritius, Seychelles and South Africa.
