Opening ceremony revenues to benefit victims of Palestinian genocide

The 24th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival will dedicate the revenues from the opening ceremony to the victims of the genocide in occupied Palestine, as it was decided during a working session to look into the logistical and technical preparations.

The 24th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival will be held from June 26 to 29 under the slogan ‘Supporting Palestine’.

Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister in charge of the Cultural Affairs Ministry, Moncef Boukthir, met on Monday with Director General of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), Abdelrahim Suleiman, and discussed many issues, especially organisational aspects at the City of Culture, which is hosting exhibitors from most Arab countries as well as foreign participants including China, France, Italy, and several African countries, as part of the festival’s openness to its international community.

The Ministry of Culture also discussed the organisational details of the opening ceremony to be held at the Archaeological Theatre in Carthage, the proceeds of which will benefit the victims of the genocide in Palestine. In this context, Minister Moncef Bouktair stressed the need to coordinate with the relevant authorities and to speed up the completion of a framework agreement between the National Foundation for the Development of Cultural and Artistic Festivals and Events and the Arab States Broadcasting Union to use the Foundation’s application to sell tickets, according to what the Ministry said on its Facebook page.

He also called for tight coordination between the institutions of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, which will host the festival, to achieve the success of this edition on all levels, stressing that such events enshrine Tunisia’s support for joint Arab action and that the responsibility is greater in this edition, which has the slogan ‘Supporting for Palestine’.

For his part, Director General of the Union, Abdelrahim Suleiman, spoke about the specificity of the Arab Radio and Television Festival, which in addition to the opening and closing ceremonies includes a huge exhibition and scientific seminars for specialists in the audiovisual sector as well as competitions for radio and television programmes, stressing the importance of the role of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in unifying efforts and endeavours to make this event a success.

The 24th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival is organised at the City of Culture in partnership with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Tunisian Television, Tunisian Radio and Arabsat.
