Tunisian film ‘Take My Breath’ has been nominated to represent Tunisian cinema in the 97th Academy Awards for the Best International Feature Film, it was announced today.
In a statement, Izzy Cinema Distribution and the entire team of Nada Mezni Hafaiedh’s film ‘Take My Breath’ expressed their pleasure at this nomination, explaining that this film was selected by a committee organised under the supervision of the National Centre for Cinema and Image (CNCI).
Synopsis:
‘Take My Breath’ is a feature film about Shams, a 23-year-old young woman living on a quiet Tunisian island, who works as a fashion designer and dressmaker and falls in love with a sailor. Her life is turned upside down when her sexuality is revealed, and she decides to move to the capital in an attempt to change her life, against her will.
The 95-minute film, which premiered in Tunisian cinemas on October 25 last year, stars Amina Ben Ismail, Mohamed Mrad, Sana Ben Cheikh Larbi, Fatma Ben Saïdane, Fathi Akkari, Ayman Ben Hamida and Haifa Boulekbech.
‘Take My Breath’ won the best feature film award at the 24th edition of the Arab Film Festival in Rotterdam, and its heroine recently won two awards for best actress, most recently at the Casablanca Arab Film Festival, held from 6 to 13 September 2024.
