The inflation for Tunisian household consumption reached an alarming rate of 7.7 % in April, the Tunisian National Institute of Statistics (INS) said on Saturday.
The high rate is mainly due to the 8.9 % leap in food prices, and the 10.5% jump in transport expenses, the INC said in its report.
Besides, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 1 percent in April.
During the first quarter of 2018, Tunisia’s exports reached 10.2 billion dinars (4.08 billion U.S. dollars), while the imports hit 13.8 billion dinars, registering a year-on-year increase of 35.2 percent and 21.3 percent respectively.
