Some thirty agreements signed on first day of “Tunisia 2020” Conference

Some thirty conventions and agreements were signed Tuesday afternoon on the sidelines of the International Investment Conference “Tunisia2020”, with the European Union (a donation of € 200 million), the European Investment Bank (EIB) Loan of € 246 million), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) (a loan of € 46.5 million), the German bank KFW Credits totalling €105 million), the French development agency (a donation of € 5 million).

At the ceremony held at the Convention Centre in Tunis, agreements were signed with the European Union for several donation programmes totalling € 200 million.

According to the EIB, this amount is intended to support the private and public sectors: private entrepreneurship, sustainable infrastructure, social housing, energy, education and training for young people, but also foreign direct investment and innovation.

The ceremony was also an opportunity to sign the joint statement between the government of the Tunisian Republic and the EIB on the financing of infrastructure for € 2.5 billion in addition to the signing of an agreement for financing with the EIB the Bridge of Bizerte for an amount of € 123 million, granted with maturity of 30 years.

It is an urban highway of 9.5 km length including the crossing of the lake via a viaduct of 2Km.

A contract worth € 69 million for the de-pollution of the Mediterranean was also signed between the National Sanitation Authority and the EIB and a contract between the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) for 46 Million for the transmission of electricity.

An € 82 million loan contract was signed with KFW for the construction of a water desalination plant and another loan contract for € 11.5 million was signed with the same institution for the photovoltaic power plant in Tozeur.

A € 9 million grant contract was signed with the Swiss embassy as well as two donation contracts with the French Development Agency for projects in renewable energy and vocational training of 3 and 2 million Euros under the shape of donations.
