Ministry of Communication Technologies and “HP Inc.” renew partnership

Managing Director of HP Inc. Tunisia Jihed Jahdour and Minister of Communication Technologies and the Digital Economy Anouar Maarouf signed on Thursday in Tunis an agreement to renew the public-private partnership that links “HP Inc” to the Ministry.

The new headquarters of the company at “Elgazala Technopark” was also inaugurated on the occasion.

Based in Tunisia since October 2015, HP Inc. Tunisia has a total workforce of 230 people, with a prospect of up to 380 or more employees in the next 3 years.

Under this agreement, the Ministry will provide a grant of 700 dinars per person employed by the company, take over the training of this person and certification (up to 70%), Ilyes Jribi, Executive Director of the “Smart Tunisia” programme told TAP.

He emphasised that “the presence of such a multinational in Tunisia, helps to promote the image of the country abroad.”

From its offices in Tunisia, HP Inc. provides advanced technical support to customers in more than 40 countries in 4 continents and in 5 languages across HP products. Its annual investment in Tunisia is $ 4 million.

“The inauguration of the new offices with international standards at Elgazela Technopark reflects Tunisia’s ability to allow multinationals to find skills at the international level, ultra-qualified human resources working in offices identical to those that can be found in any city of the world, “said Anouar Maarouf, Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy.

“Our goal is to boost investment in the sector by building loyalty to those who are already there and helping them to grow.

Today, 60% of the sector’s growth comes from the expansion of existing companies. In doing so, we will attract new brands and other prestigious firms. In the near future, we will announce the installation of a new American operator in Tunisia “.

We are aware of the administrative problems that are slowing down but we are determined to overcome them. It is in this context that we have strengthened our partnership with HP Inc. and this in the continuation of the historical partnership with the parent company HP.

We are today determined to multiply the successes and accelerate the development of the sector and this within the framework of Smart Tunisia.

This programme has shown that the potential is there, thanks to the actors already present, but also thanks to the interest shown by major international players.

To succeed, we need to lift the structural brakes to get to the top speed, thanks to the implementation of the Tunisia Digital 2020 Strategy. ”

“Smart Tunisia” is a programme for companies in the offshore sector, with the goal of creating 50,000 jobs in five years.

For the five-year period, the Tunisian State has allocated a budget equivalent to EUR 500 million in the form of incentives, in order to support international and local operators in their strategies for growth and development of their activities.
