Rising German bookings spark hopes for an upturn this year.
Tunisia has welcomed tentative signs of a long-awaited revival. The country’s German ambassador, Elyes Kasri, said at ITB that bookings from Germany rose 14 per cent in January and February, and he is hoping for 30-40 per cent growth by the end of 2017 to reverse two years of heavy losses.
Kasri added that his government is talking to cruise lines MSC and Costa about making a return. Tunisia received only a few thousand cruise visitors last year, down from 900,000 seven years ago.
