Tunisia state phosphate production up 46% In 1st Qtr – data

Tunisia’s state phosphate production rose 46 percent in the first quarter this year compared to a year ago as protests declined in the main phosphate-producing region in the south, official figures showed on Tuesday.

Production in the first three months of the year was 1.33 million tonnes, according to energy ministry data provided to Reuters.

Phosphate exports along with tourism is a key economic sector and a source of foreign revenue for Tunisia.
