Tunisia: date exports generate high revenues

Revenues from date exports have increased by 31.5% from the beginning of the season (October 1, 2016) to May 8, compared to the same period of the previous season, rising to 453.6 MD (87 thousand tons) against 345 MD (80.6 thousand tons).

The quantities of organic dates exported during the same period amounted to 5,353 thousand tons, worth 35,498 MD, representing a 17.8% increase in revenue compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

Morocco is the second most important destination for exports of Tunisian dates with more than 22 thousand tons, followed by Malaysia (6.9 thousand tons), France (6.4 thousand tons), Italy (6.3 thousand tons) and Indonesia (5.4 thousand tons).
