– Tunisia’s fruit exports earnings stood at 58.615 million dinars ($23.4 million) at last November 20, for the 2017 season. This is 35% more than during the past season, the ministry of agriculture, water resources and fishery said in a statement quoted by TAP.
The surge is mainly due to a greater exported volume (23,780 ton or +2.7%), mostly to new commercial outlets.
Among these, at the top are Qatar and Kuwait, whose imports from Tunisia respectively rose by 1,094% and 118%.
Usual markets also overall recorded the same trend, all but Libya.
The world’s second largest fruit exporter, Russia, thus had the value and volume of its purchases rise by 140% and 171% respectively, while the United Arab Emirates recorded increases of 36% and 58% for these two figures.
Tunisia’s exports included mainly citruses, dates, apricots and peaches.
