Chinese ambassador to Tunisia highlights China’s ability to confront Corona

Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Wang Wenbin shed light on developments in the prevention of epidemics of pneumonia caused by the new Coronavirus, stressing China’s ability to win its battle against the epidemic.

The Ambassador pointed out during a meeting with the press in Tunis, that the preventive measures taken by the Chinese government had achieved positive results.

He said the Chinese government places people’s lives and health in the first place, including all foreign communities in China and employees of diplomatic missions.

The ambassador emphasized that his country has established a comprehensive and multi-level system of prevention and control, which focuses on Wuhan and Hubei Province, then extends from the central government to the local government, and all work is conducted in an open and transparent manner, through scientific means.

He said that due to the Chinese government taking the aforementioned measures, the epidemic was controlled in Wuhan.

The ambassador pointed out that China, as a responsible country, initiated international cooperation, informing the World Health Organization of the epidemiological situation and exchanging technical information and the complete gene sequence of some strains of the virus in the first moments. Chinese agencies abroad have also kept in close contact with the governments of the host countries to inform them of the epidemiological situation and China’s efforts in prevention and control. Several countries and the World Health Organization made a positive assessment of China’s actions in dealing with the epidemic and expressed understanding and support to China.

The Ambassador expressed his sincere thanks to the government and people of Tunisia for their support and understanding. He said that in the past days, many of our Tunisian friends from the government, political parties, parliament, institutions, media, and intellectual institutions have expressed their condolences to the Chinese embassy, ​​support the preventive measures taken by the Chinese government to prevent and control the epidemic, and trust that China will soon overcome the epidemic, and some of them donate face masks and other materials for China.

President Kais Saied and interim Prime Minister Youssef Chahed wrote two letters to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, extending their sincere condolences to the Chinese people, and greatly appreciated the Chinese government’s efforts to prevent the spread of the epidemic, stabilize society and enhance medical protection.

They voiced confidence that China will control epidemics soon.
