SUP’COM 2020 Forum: Tunisia Autonomous Systems

The Tunis Higher School of Communications (SUP’COM) is organizing the 21th edition of the SUP’COM forum on January 6, 2020, online on the FabEvent by FabSkill platform under the theme: Tunisia Autonomous Systems: Fostering Development

The forum is an excellent vector to promote the digital culture and innovation in this area with affecting other sectors. It is also, an exclusive place for young mined to meet with graduates, educational setting and companies to exchange ideas and knowledge.

It will also be the perfect context for discussing autonomous systems issues through the expertise of our outstanding guests and through lectures and roundtables throughout the day.

SUP’COM voices proud to be one of the poles influencing the field of ICT in Tunisia, through this reform, to make information and communication technologies an important lever for the development of the national development and guarantee improving the competitiveness of Tunisian companies.

The subject of autonomous systems is tackled because it is part of a new class of innovations that are rapidly evolving and go far beyond the framework of traditional automation.

Thanks to the interoperability of existing information and communication technologies, these systems make it possible to ensure the autonomy of daily processes in a reliable and instantaneous manner, thus considerably facilitating our daily lives.

Among the SUP’COM 2020 Forum guests are: Minister of ICT and Digital Economy Mohamed Fadhel KRAIEM and President of the University of Carthage, Nadia MZOUGHI.

Autonomous Systems

Autonomous Systems represents a collection of connected machines and systems that are capable of performing series of operations where the sequence is determined by the outcome of previous operations or references coming from external circumstances that are monitored and measured within the whole system.

This kind of systems, unlike more traditional mechanisms whose range of activities are determined from the outset, tailor their behaviour and operations in accordance with the current conditions found.

They are based on artificial intelligence since machine learning is required in this case to model the complexity of real world environments.

Autonomous systems can be rightly described as “intelligent” since it discovers all what is happening in its surroundings and adapts its course of action in accordance with what is deducted.

The autonomous systems family includes several types of machines

NAVIGATION SYSTEMS: Those systems include the automatic transport and movement in real world environments like self-driving cars that are able to sense the elements in their surroundings using sensors and scalable algorithms to drive safely through the road even in worse conditions.

HUMAN INTERACTIVE SYSTEMS: Systems that are used to interact with people like robots that accept verbal commands and sense gestures in order to give results that are well adapted to the human needs.

DECISION-MAKING MACHINES: This type of machines make decisions autonomously during real-time conditions considering a large number of variables like software used to trade stocks automatically.

That is how Autonomous systems are not only considered as efficient solutions but are also applicable to every area in our daily life.
