Cruise ships resume activity in Tunisia

Cruise ships are making a comeback in Tunisia after a two-year forced pause due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Tunisian tourism ministry said in a statement.

The first cruise ship will dock at the port of La Goulette on March 23, the ministry added.

38 cruise ships are expected to arrive if the global and national health situation improves.

The return of this tourism and its preparations were the focus of a working session co-ordinated by Minister of Tourism, Mohamed Moez Belhassine, attended by the President of the National Chamber of Tourist Transport, Slim Ben Jaballah.

The last cruise ship that docked at the port of La Goulette was the Amira on November 14, 2019, carrying 1,090 passengers, including 646 German tourists.
