Tunis hosts 4th scientific conference of African Society of Dermatology and Venereology

600 African dermatologists to take part in the Tunis Congress

The fourth Scientific Conference of the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV) will be organised by the Tunisian Society of Dermatology and Venereology from April 24 to 27, 2024 in Tunis.

This major scientific meeting will see the participation of 600 dermatologists from 23 different countries, from Africa, Europe, America, Asia and Australia.

Fourteen topics will be covered at the conference, including allergology, paediatric dermatology, cutaneous infectious diseases and sexually transmitted infections, lasers in dermatology, hair and nail diseases and many others.

This ASDV conference will be preceded by an AFRISCAR pre-conference day devoted to the dermatological complications of certain therapies (toxidermia).

At a press conference held on Monday 22 April 2024, Dr Moez Ben Salem, dermatologist and chairman of the organising committee of the fourth Scientific Conference of the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV), outlined the main themes of this latest edition of the African conference.

“This is the 4th conference of the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV), set up in 2013 and based in Nigeria. After the Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria editions, this new edition, organised by the Tunisian Society of Dermatology and Venereology, will be held in Tunis in the Convention Palace over 5 days, from April 23 to 27, 2024”, Dr Ben Salem said.

“The main themes of the conference include fourteen topics that have been selected for the conference, including allergology, infectious skin diseases and sexually transmitted infections, paediatric dermatology, hair and nail problems, lasers in dermatology and so on, he added.

Dr Ben Salem noted that the important number of participants marks this medical gathering: “We are expecting around 600 delegates, including 85 speakers from various African countries (Southern, Central, Eastern, Western and Northern), as well as from every continent: Europe, America, Asia and Australia. In all, more than 25 countries will be represented at this congress. We aim to bring together as many doctors as possible interested in dermatological problems to exchange, collect and disseminate information on the practice, research and teaching of dermato-venereology”.

“This medical and scientific event will also enable hundreds of participants to discover Tunisia. Such a major international event is bound to have a positive impact on Tunisia’s image and attract tourists, especially as most of the guests are medical luminaries in their respective countries and even around the world”,  Dr Ben Salem concluded.
