French foreign minister assures Tunisia of security cooperation

France and Tunisia have stressed the importance of strengthening security cooperation between the two countries in their “common fight” against terrorism.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, in the Tunisian capital Tunis, on Monday said that Tunisia was a “priority” for new French President Emmanuel Macron.

Le Drian also met with Tunisian president Beji Caid Essebsi, on his first trip to North Africa.

Tunisia, is the only surviving democracy spawned by the 2011 Arab spring.

Its heavily tourism dependent economy survived fears after suffering three terrorists attack in 2015.
