2.2 million Tourists visited Tunisia by late April 2019

Tourist arrivals in Tunisia during the first four months of 2019, increased by 18%, compared to the same period last year, to exceed 2 million 239 thousand people, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

The tourist arrival revival is related to a recovery in the number of tourists from European markets (22% leap at the end of March), particularly the British (140%), French (24%) and Dutch (13%) markets.

Besides, the Maghreb markets, which represent 44% of tourist arrivals to date, have experienced an upward pace. Tunisia received during the first quarter of 2019, about 496 thousand Algerian tourists and 473 thousand Libyans.

The tourism revenues, as of April 20, they had exceeded one billion dinars, which represents a jump of 35%. In Euros, revenues increased by 16.5% to around €294 million.
The number of overnight stays increased from January 1 to April 20, 2019, by 17.9%, to around 4.2 million visitors, with growth ranging between 10% and 20%, depending on the tourist areas.

The Ministry plans to reach, by the end of 2019, one million French tourists, 390 thousand German tourists and 640 thousand Russians, which will help attract 9 million visitors, from the various traditional and non-traditional issuing markets.
