ALIA by Zahra Berrada in an exclusive preview

Ali presents the story of a young Moroccan immigrant who is torn between the conservative environment of his family and his passion for the cabaret where he cross-dresses at night to become Alia.

Tunisian Star and actor Fares Landoulsi performs the main character of Ali, a 22-year-old Moroccan man.  He lives with his religious father in Paris, where they both emigrated 15 years ago. Ali works in a bakery during the daytime, and at night, he becomes Alia, a radiant transvestite singer who performs in an oriental cabaret in Paris.

Also starring the short film Alia Ash Goldeh, Hocine Choutri and Hind Taoufiq. It is a production of Paraiso and directed by Zahra Berrada.

It is the story of a generation that once knew unequal freedom but now lives in guilt under the very narrow prism of religion and of another generation raised in this rigid atmosphere that yearns for, hitherto, unrecognized freedom and strives for emancipation.

The short film, Alia, will be presented during an evening dedicated to short films supported by the Seine-Saint-Denis department – Cinéma 93, on Wednesday 24 November at 7 pm at Ciné 104, 104 avenue Jean Lolive, 93500 Pantin.
