Four Daughters by Kaouther Ben Hania wins Best Documentary at the César Awards

Four Daughters by Kaouther Ben Hania, nominated for an Oscar, won the Best Documentary prize at the César Awards, the French equivalent of the Oscars.

The ceremony, which crowned Anatomy of a Fall as the best film, was held on Friday evening at the Olympia theater in Paris.

Upon accepting her award, Ms. Ben Hania turned her attention to the situation in Gaza, declaring: “It’s so horrible, and no one can say they didn’t know about it. This is the first live massacre on our phones”.

The film competed for the Palme d’Or at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on May 19, 2023. It was released in France on July 5, 2023. It was selected as the Tunisian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards, and was nominated for Best Feature Documentary.
