CEO of the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX), Mourad Ben Hassine, said that his institution is working with the Ministry of Trade to implement a national export strategy focusing on several markets, including Asia and Latin America.
In response to a question about Tunisia’s economic diplomacy, Ben Hassine added that a plan had been established to identify Tunisia’s strategic orientations of market access. In an interview with TAP’s TV studio, Ben Hassine noted that technical committees would be meeting permanently to resolve problems hampering the export of agricultural products to China.
He referred to the numerous procedures and conditions put in place for exporters to the Chinese market, in return, numerous platforms and communication points have been set up to register products for access to the Chinese market. He recalled that last year CEPEX organised an event on the South Korean market in Tunisia, which saw high-level Korean participation and led to the conclusion of partnership contracts in several sectors, including the automotive components industry.
The official pointed out that the “Expo Osaka 2025” event, which will be held in Japan, will provide an opportunity to consolidate trade relations with Tokyo and explore the Japanese market and the countries of East Asia, representing the world’s largest economies.
Ben Hassine said that the ‘Tunisia Export’ team, formed in 2023 and comprising representatives of professional bodies, was working to establish a unified vision of Tunisian products and to identify markets on a scientific basis.
The Tunisia Export team has succeeded in drawing up a list of 40 markets and 40 Tunisian products making this data available to companies to help them choose markets simply and effectively.
