Defence Minister meets with Saudi Ambassador to Tunisia

Development and diversification of military cooperation
Minister of National Defence Imed Memmich met Tuesday in Tunis with Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Tunisia Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al-Saqr, TAP reports.

The meeting focused on the development and diversification of military cooperation between the Tunisian armed forces and their Saudi counterparts, said a statement of the Department of Defense.

The two sides stressed the "historical ties of brotherhood" between the two countries, affirming the common will to strengthen military cooperation and maintain the periodic holding of the Joint Military Commission. The latter is the appropriate framework for the exchange of views on cooperation programmes and monitoring their implementation, the same source adds.

The first session of the Tunisian-Saudi joint military commission was held in March 2017 in Riyadh. Tunis hosted, in March 2018, the second session which focused on ways to strengthen military cooperation in the areas of training and joint exercises in several areas as well as in the field of military health.
