Tunisia, UNDP to strengthen cooperation in security reform

Tunisia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) agreed on Tuesday to strengthen bilateral cooperation on security reform, the Tunisian Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The decision was taken at a meeting held in Tunis between Tunisian Interior Minister Kamel Feki and UNDP Resident Representative in Tunisia Céline Moyroud.

Mr. Feki reiterated his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in security reform, in line with the standards and provisions of international conventions and agreements.

The two officials also stressed the need to adopt community policing in more of Tunisia’s provinces, in order to build trust between citizens and the security apparatus.

The two sides also discussed ways of advancing bilateral strategic partnerships, including a 2023-2027 local development plan agreed between Tunisia and the UNDP, the statement added.
